School resumes Wednesday in Utah district after bomb threat

First Published Feb 04 2014 04:03 pm • Last Updated Feb 04 2014 10:50 pm

All schools and activities in the Juab School District will resume Wednesday after campuses were shut down by a bomb threat.

About 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, a student at Nebo View Elementary reported finding writing on a bathroom stall that indicated a bomb would go off on Wednesday, said district superintendent Rick Robins. The school is at 380 E. 200 North in Nephi. The message did not specify the target of the bomb.

The district evacuated all of its schools, notified parents and cancelled all of its afterschool activities, including a girls’ basketball game against Sanpete and city activities.

"We obviously were concerned about the safety of students at all of our campuses," Robins said.

Nephi police have interviewed a student from the Juab School District who is believed to have made the threat, Robins said

Robins thanked district patrons for their patience and praised the good work of the police department.

"Considering everything going on in Juab County, I’m glad it turned out OK," Robins said.

Tribune reporter Mike McFall contributed to this story.
