A Colorado man appears to have died from hypothermia after venturing into Crouse Canyon in northeastern Utah.
The Daggett County Sheriff's Office was called to check on Kenneth Martin Roche on Jan. 27, the day after he turned 45, who was believed to be at his cabin in Taylor Flats in the Brown's Park area. But the Steamboat Springs, Colo. man was not there, nor was his vehicle, according to a news release.
On Friday evening, a Utah Department of Wildlife Resources official found Roche's abandoned vehicle in the Crouse Canyon area in Daggett County, near the Utah-Colorado state line. Daggett County Sheriff's Office started looking for him Saturday morning.
Deputies, Daggett County Search and Rescue, Uintah County Search and Rescue and a team from Moffat County, Colo. continued the search into Sunday. That afternoon, they found his body.
Investigators suspect alcohol contributed to his death by hypothermia. His body was sent to the medical examiner for further investigation.
