The funeral for a slain Utah County Sheriff's sargeant is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
The funeral of Sgt. Cory Wride, killed Thursday in a shooting, will take place at 11 a.m. at Utah Valley University Event Center, according to brother-in-law Johnny Revill.
There will also be a viewing Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Spanish Fork West LDS Stake Center, 400 N. 650 West. Wride's interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 S. 400 East, following the funeral.
Wride, a 19-year veteran, was shot to death Thursday when he stopped his patrol car to check on a pulled-over pickup truck with flashers blinking on State Road 73 between Eagle Mountain and Cedar Fort. The driver was believed to have been Jose Garcia-Jauregui, 27.
Deputy Greg Sherwood encountered Garcia-Jauregui as he reached Santaquin. Someone again fired a handgun out the rear window, striking Sherwood in the head, Utah County Sheriff Jim Tracy has said. Sherwood remained in critical condition Saturday at Utah Valley Regional, but the deputy's prognosis was good, said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon. Sherwood is expected to leave the intensive care unit in a couple days, he added.
Garcia-Jauregui, and apparently a 17-year-old girl, fled south. Investigators are still trying to determine what the nature of the 17-year-old's involvement was, Cannon said, who added that she is not a relative of Garcia-Jauregui.
Juab County Sheriff's deputies eventually caught Garcia-Jauregui after he allegedly carjacked a woman and fired at deputies and passing vehicles on the freeway. Garcia-Jauregu died at the hospital Friday from wounds.

Candlelight vigil for deputies
The public is invited to attend a candlelight vigil Sunday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in honor of Sgt. Cory Wride and injured Deputy Greg Sherwood. The vigil will be held at the Sports Park, located at 295 W. Volunteer Drive in Spanish Fork. Attendees should bring their own candles and any extras to share with others; Chinese lanterns are discouraged.
There will also be a donation box for the Wride and Sherwood families.
