A semi truck hauling potatoes toppled Friday morning near Cedar City, slowing freeway traffic for several hours.

The accident happened at about 8 a.m. on Interstate 15 when the southbound truck went out of control on Black Ridge, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck slid, then tipped onto its left side, blocking the freeway.

A black Mazda driven by a pregnant woman collided with the truck after it had toppled over, UHP reports. The woman and the truck driver were both shaken up and taken to a hospital in St. George.

Pictures of the accident scene show extremely snowy conditions.

The truck was hauling 39,000 pounds of potatoes when it crashed, though the cargo did not spill onto the road. According to UHP, the accident caused significant traffic backups near the border between Washington and Iron counties.
