Two 9-foot dinosaur puppets have been recovered a day after they were stolen from a driveway in Kearns.

The mobile tyrannosaurus rex and velociraptor models, used for special event rental, were in a trailer parked near 7000 South and 5600 West on Tuesday evening, said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal. When the operator returned home at 11 p.m., the trailer was gone.

But on Wednesday afternoon, a police officer in Murray discovered a stolen car in the parking lot of a garage near 4200 South and 500 West, said Murray police Sgt. Ross Huff.

A search of the garage led police to the trailer and the two dinosaurs, as well as another stolen car, Huff said.

"It was a chop shop business," Huff said.

The thefts remain under investigation.
