An early Monday morning fire gutted one apartment and damaged another before Ogden firefighters doused the flames. No injuries were reported.
Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said the initial call on the apartment complex blaze came in at 4:13 a.m. Crews responding to the scene at 454 Canfield Drive declared the fire out by 5 a.m.
While residents were evacuated briefly, the flames were mostly contained to one unit, though the fire had begun to spread into an adjacent apartment's attic space before firefighters snuffed it.
The cause of the fire was under investigation by the fire marshal's office.
Bauman estimated total damage at $70,000.
Residents of the burned apartment were staying with relatives until they could find new accommodations, Bauman said.
