An autopsy has identified a body found in the trunk of a car in California as a former Utah man and the fiance of a woman who was shot to death, along with the man's brother, outside a Riverside, Calif., mall on Christmas Eve.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Coroner Office on Thursday confirmed that the badly decomposed remains, discovered in an abandoned 2004 Toyota Camry with Utah plates on Jan. 17, were those of 24-year-old Gianni Belvedere, of San Diego.

Police had earlier confirmed that the car was registered to Belvedere.

However, the specific cause of death — while ruled a homicide — was not immediately released.

Gianni's fiancée, Ilona Flint, 22, and his brother, Salvatore Belvedere, also 22, were gunned down last month outside the Westfield Mission Valley Mall in Riverside.

While all three victims were San Diego residents, they had reportedly once attended Provo High School together.

No motives for the slayings have been released, nor arrests been made in the case.
