The fast-acting fire fighters of Salt Lake City managed to knock down an RV fire Tuesday morning in six minutes flat.

Reports of a fire in a recreational vehicle at 868 S. 900 West came in at 10:18 a.m., according to Salt Lake Fire spokesman Jasen Asay. Within three minutes crews were on the scene. Six minutes later, at 10:27 a.m., the fire was completely under control. The effort was so quick that additional fire fighters who has been deployed were called off.

Asay said a woman who lived in the RV off-and-on was not injured by the blaze. She turned on some space heaters Monday night, which investigators believe ignited something combustible in the vehicle.

The woman, whose name and age were not immediately available, made arrangements to stay elsewhere Tuesday night. The Red Cross also assisted, replacing some of the woman’s clothing and toiletries.

Investigators estimated the damage at about $2,500, with Asay adding that the RV was an older model. Most of the front of the vehicle was destroyed and the rear suffered heat damage. The fire did not threaten any other vehicles or buildings.
