Graphic: Military weapons sent to Utah police
Sixty-two Utah police agencies are participants in what is called the 1033 Program.
Under the program, the police forces make applications to the U.S. Department of Defense for surplus military equipment. The equipment can be anything from a pair of pliers to emergency blankets to M-16 rifles to armored vehicles. The embedded graphic shows what military weaponry came to Utah for a two-year period beginning in October 2011, according to U.S. Department of Defense records.
