A Hyrum woman died Tuesday in a crash near the mouth of Sardine Canyon.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Christina C. Petersen was traveling west on Mt. Sterling Road (6800 South) near Wellsville, when she turned south onto Highway 89/91 and pulled in front of a northbound truck coming down the canyon, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce. The truck struck her partially head-on.

Petersen, 60, died at the hospital.

The driver of the truck, who UHP did not identify, was taken to Logan Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
