Police were called to the scene at 8:22 a.m. Monday.

Benton was transported to a local hospital for treatment of leg and shoulder injuries. At the hospital it was determined Benton also suffered serious internal injuries to his chest.

He died Tuesday at 12:13 a.m.

Benton was struck on a ramp that is shared with another business, Freeport West Storage. The 49-year-old driver of the pickup truck that struck Benton works for Freeport West Storage, police said.

The accident is being investigated by the Clearfield Police Department and the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office.
