Utah Highway Patrol troopers suspect a medical issue may have contributed to a one-car crash Thursday morning that closed down the Highway 201 ramp to southbound Interstate 215.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was believed to have passed out behind the wheel before his silver Dodge Stratus crashed into a snowbank and barrier wall at 9:11 a.m.

The man was conscious and responsive when transported to the hospital for a precautionary examination, UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said.

The ramp had reopened by 10:30 a.m., when wreckage was cleared and on-scene investigation concluded.

UHP asked drivers to use alternate routes through the area.
