A 1-year-old boy remained in very critical condition Tuesday, the day after Salt Lake City police arrested the boyfriend of the infant's mother on suspicion of child abuse.

Police spokeswoman Robin Heiden said Tuesday that the baby remained on life support at Primary Children's Hospital.

Brian Taylor, 24, remained in Salt Lake County Jail, held without bail on suspicion of second-degree felony child abuse.

He was arrested on Monday.
