A train hit a car that was on the tracks Monday night in Roy.

The car had turned onto the Union Pacific tracks about 9:45 p.m., when a southbound train approached and struck it from behind, said Roy police spokesman Bryce Weir.

"The occupants of the car hopped out right before it got hit," Weir said.

The car was stuck under the front of the train, which pushed it nearly a mile south before it came to a stop.

No one was injured in the collision.

Investigators did not know why the car pulled onto the tracks.
