One man was in custody and another remained at large following the strong-arm robbery of a woman in west Salt Lake City.

Police said the incident took place 10:48 p.m. Thursday near 700 West and 300 North. The victim was walking beneath a freeway underpass when a pickup truck pulled up next to her and the male passenger jumped out.

The suspect overpowered the woman, stole her purse and got back into the pickup, which then sped from the scene, police said.

The victim called 911 and Salt Lake City police officers soon spotted the pickup, arrested the 31-year-old suspect and recovered the woman's property. However, the driver fled and remained at large Friday.

No description of the driver was released, but SLCPD asked anyone with information on the case to call 801-799-3000.
