Rape charges for Davis High teacher over sex with student
A Davis High School English teacher was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree felony rape stemming from her alleged sexual relations with a then-16-year-old male student.
In 2nd District Court documents, 34-year-old Brianne Land Altice is accused of having had sexual intercourse with the boy, now 17, on at least three occasions between January and September of this year.
Prosecutors say the teacher acknowledged to investigators that she had engaged in sex with the boy on two of the three occasions in which she has been charged.
An earlier probable cause statement, filed with the Davis County Jail after Altice was arrested at her South Weber home in late October, alleged that one of the trysts occurred in a Kaysville park.
She has been free on $10,000 bail since her arrest and on paid administrative leave from her teaching job.
Altice, whose husband filed for divorce and custody of their child last month, was hired by the Davis County School District in 2004; she had been teaching at the high school since August 2012.
A trial date has not been set, but 2nd District Judge Thomas Kay was assigned the case on Tuesday.
