A drowsy Wyoming man has been cited for running a red light and colliding with a school bus in Vernal.

Vernal Police Chief Dylan Rooks said the 26-year-old Rock Springs, Wyo., man fell asleep at the wheel of his eastbound SUV about 7:15 a.m. Monday. He then plowed into left rear end of the empty Uintah School District bus as it made a left turn from 100 South onto Highway 40.

Passengers in the Wyoming man's vehicle told police that the driver had nodded off just before the accident.

The driver of the bus was not hurt, and the driver of the SUV and his two passengers, all of whom were wearing seat belts, also escaped serious injury.
