A co-founder of Nu Skin whose husband is facing sex abuse charges has been arrested and charged for harassing the alleged victim.
Nedra McKell, 52, faces three counts of witness retaliation, all third-degree felonies, as well as misdemeanors for abuse of a vulnerable adult and violation of a protective order. The charges, filed Monday in 4th District Court, come on the heels of McKell's arrest Dec. 6.
The charges stem from a case against McKell's husband, Robert Clark McÂKell, who faces three first-degree felonies for object rape and sodomy. Prosecutors say Clark McKell abused an 18-year-old woman, even as she protested and told him "no."
Clark McKell has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to stand trial in Feburary.
Nedra McKell was charged after prosecutors say she tried to meddle in her husband's case. Court documents state that Nedra Mckell was constantly "pestering" and "harassing" the 18-year-old woman in an effort to get her to drop the charges against Robert Mckell.
Nedra Mckell also drove the victim to Robert Mckell, violating a protective order, according to the documents.
The documents also say the McKells have managed to completely isolate the woman, using family members to cut her off from friends and even all physical contact.
Nedra Mckell helped co-found Nu Skin but has not worked for the company since the late 1980s and is no longer a major shareholder in the company. In 1996, she entered into a plea and abeyance agreement in a case involving insurance and prescription drug fraud.
Nedra McKell made her initial appearance in court on the charges Thursday, at which time the judge prohibited her from contacting the 18-year-old woman. Her next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.
