Parts of the Weber State University student union building have been closed after a sprinkler line burst Monday afternoon.
Students evacuated a lounge on the second floor after water started coming out of the ceiling. A bit later, a one-inch pressurized fire sprinkler line above the lounge froze and broke, causing some of the dry wall ceiling to collapse, said school spokeswoman Alison Hess.
Though the line was shut off right away, the spilled water managed to seep down to the administrative offices of the campus store on the floor below, damaging parts of the store, Hess said.
Both the lounge and the store were closed while firefighters and a clean-up crew assess the damage and clean up the mess. An estimate on the repair costs was not immediately available.
