Clinton • Authorities say a 3-year-old Hooper girl who died Wednesday after a head-on crash in Clinton wasn't fully buckled into her car seat.
Police say Marisol Isabel Gutierrez died in the crash that happened about 2 p.m. Wednesday in front of Clinton Elementary School.
Clinton police say Gutierrez and an 18-month-old girl were in a Pontiac Grand Am driven by their 26-year-old stepfather when the vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and hit a Dodge Durango.
Drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospitals, while the 18-month-old appeared to be mostly uninjured.
It wasn't clear why the Pontiac veered into the opposite lane. Police say ice and snow did not appear to be the cause.
