A car crash in Clinton on Wednesday killed a young girl and injured two drivers.

A red Pontiac Grand Am was traveling west on 1800 North at 1100 West, near Clinton Elementary School, when it crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Dodge Durango, said Clinton police Lt. Dave Valentine.

A 3-year-old girl in the Grand Am died in the crash, Valentine said. Her father, who was driving, was injured and hospitalized, as was the woman driving the Durango, Valentine said.

Authorities were not releasing the girl's name pending family notification.

A toddler in the Grand Am was not injured, Valentine said.

Police did not immediately know what caused the accident, as officers have been unable to interview the injured drivers. Valentine said the road was not icy where the accident occurred.

The Salt Lake Tribune will provide further details as they become available.
