Police are looking for whomever fought with a 91-year-old woman during a weekend burglary at her Salt Lake City home.

Just after 5 a.m. Saturday, the woman was awakened by a male inside her Central City home. When she confronted him, he assaulted her and threw her down on her bed, said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Robin Heiden. After the attack, he took her purse and left, she said.

"She wasn't injured, thankfully," Heiden said.

Police describe the suspect as a male with an average build, average height and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, according to a police news release.

There were no signs of forced entry, so the woman suspects the intruder may have gained entry through an unlocked back door.

The woman told police that during the past 60 years, she has never had a problem leaving her door unlocked.

Heiden emphasized the importance of always locking your doors, whether at home or with your car.
