Library of Congress photo The original caption of this 1940 photo says: "E.O. Stenquist, his wife, and one of their children talk with RR (Rural Rehabilitation) supervisor Glenn F. Cowan in front of the completely remodeled family home in Bear River, Utah, which is one result of the Farm Security Administration tenant purchase loan made to Stenquist in 1939. After one season's operations under the loan, this farmer was selected by Utah Farm Security Administration supervisors as the government program's most successful farmer of 1939."

Each Friday, The Salt Lake Tribune presents archival in a special series called A Look Back. This week's installment features photos of Utahns shot by Dorothea Lange and other photogrpahers working for the Farm Security Administration between 1936 and 1940.
