The last of a wintry blast sweeping through Utah left the state Sunday, setting the stage for a mostly sunny forecast for Thanksgiving Day.
A winter storm warning in place for a good chunk of south and central Utah, including the cities of Kanab and Escalante, expired Sunday.
The weather service said up to 16 inches of snow had been expected to fall in areas with elevations about 5,000 feet before the storm's end.
While northern Utah enjoyed sunny weather Sunday, the Utah Avalanche Center issued a moderate avalanche risk for back-country skiers at all of Utah's northern and central ranges. As of about 5 p.m. Sunday, however, no avalanches were reported to the center.
Monday's forecast calls for patchy fog in some areas — including Logan, Cedar City, Fillmore and Roosevelt — but sunshine along the Wasatch Front.
For Wednesday and Thursday — the big travel days for the Thanksgiving holiday — the weather is expected to be mostly sunny across the state with temperatures ranging from the high 40s in most of Utah to the low 60s in St. George.
