As snow fell Thursday, Salt Lake County Public Works Director Russ Wall reminded residents to move parked cars off streets to allow snow removal.

A county ordinance requires vehicles to be moved off streets, before or during snowstorms, from November through April. Violators may be cited or have their vehicles impounded, Wall said.

"Vehicles parked on streets during winter snow storms can be a serious public safety hazard," he added. "The best way to have roads cleared in a safe and timely manner is to make room for our drivers to have the access they need when their plows hit the streets."

The county plows roads in the unincorporated townships — Millcreek, Kearns, Magna, White City, Emigration Canyon and Copperton — plus Taylorsville and Holladay.
