A 20-year-old Syracuse man died Saturday when his car struck a telephone pole. The man's name was not released Saturday. The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on 1700 South near 3400 West in Syracuse.

According to a Syracuse police news release, the man was driving west in a yellow Dodge Neon. He attempted to pass another vehicle and met oncoming traffic, police said. The driver swerved back into his lane, over corrected and hit the telephone pole. The driver was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
