Ogden dad charged with decades-old sexual abuse of daughters

First Published Nov 05 2013 11:08 am • Last Updated Feb 14 2014 11:37 pm

A 47-year-old Ogden man has been arrested on decades-old allegations that he sexually abused his two daughters for several years starting at age 6.

The man’s daughters, now in their 20s, allege the man began forcing them to perform and receive oral sex beginning in 1999, sometimes as often as five times a week, until they reached puberty, according to 2nd District Court documents.

The girls kept their secrets until 2012, when they finally disclosed the purported abuse to their grandmother. Upon recently learning of the incidents herself, the girls’ mother confronted the father.

The mother told Ogden detectives that when she asked her husband about the claims, he "would only say that he was sorry for what he had done to the girls, but nothing more," according to court documents.

Earlier this week, police obtained an arrest warrant and took the suspect into custody Monday afternoon. He was booked into Weber County Jail, where he remained Tuesday on $500,000 bail.

The father made his first court appearance Tuesday before Judge Michael Direda. He has been charged with four first-degree felony counts of sodomy upon a child and one first-degree felony count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
