Four people were taken to the hospital after a car, possibly stalled in the middle lane of State Road 201, was rear-ended by a pickup truck in the pre-dawn darkness Monday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jalaine Hawkes said the accident occurred about 6:50 a.m. on westbound SR-201 near 5000 West. A man and two women in the truck as well as the male driver of the car were transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray for treatment of minor injuries.

UHP was unable to immediately provide identities or ages of the injured.

Hawkes said that after striking the car, the truck rolled onto its top.

Traffic through the accident scene was restricted for about two hours.

No citations were immediately issued as the accident, and specifically the reason the car was stopped in the traffic lane, remained under investigation.
