A Saratoga Springs woman has been charged with automobile homicide in Utah County after she was allegedly involved in a crash that killed a 36-year-old man.
Dawn Lynn Grochowski, 52, was charged with the second-degree felony late last month in 4th District Court.
She was released from jail in August after a judge ruled that there wasn't enough evidence to hold her following the Aug. 25 crash in Utah County's Israel Canyon. Prosecutors at the time said her blood-alcohol tests remained at the lab, which prompted the judge to order her release.
But last month, prosecutors felt they had enough to file the auto homicide charge.
Police said Grochowski was driving about 4:30 p.m. in her 1991 Jeep Wrangler when she failed to negotiate a hairpin turn west of Utah Lake. Police said her vehicle rolled 50 feet down the hill and landed on its top, dislodging the rear seat and injuring the backseat occupants.
Grochowski's passenger, Trevor Nielsen, 36, died of his injuries a day later, police said.
Charging documents allege Grochowski admitted to drinking "2 Mickey's" two hours apart.
Court records allege Grochowski's blood alcohol level was 0.12 at the time of the crash. Utah's legal limit is 0.08.
She did not have any upcoming court appearances scheduled as of Wednesday.
