West Jordan • Prosecutors will present evidence against accused killer David Fresques in February — four months after their original preliminary hearing date.

The proceedings were delayed because defense attorneys have been unable to meet or interview certain key witnesses to the February shootings.

Among them was David Romney Fotu, who pleaded guilty last week to obstructing justice in this case and faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced in November. His cooperation in the case against Fresques is likely a part of his plea agreement with prosecutors.

Fresques, 25, faces three counts of first-degree felony aggravated murder in the Feb. 12 shooting deaths of Danielle Lucero, Omar Jarman and Shontay Young. He is also charged with attempted aggravated murder for allegedly wounding 53-year-old Vickie Myers in the shoulder.

According to court documents, Fresques on Feb. 12 went from room to room inside the home at 8286 S. Adams St. (450 West), firing at his victims. The shootings were methodical, and perhaps selective, police have said.

Fresques was arrested one day later.

No motive for the murders has been identified, though authorities said the home was a "known drug house." No weapon was recovered from the scene.

On Wednesday, as Fresques stood before 3rd District Judge Mark Kouris, his mother sat in the courtroom gallery.

She called to him as he was led out of the room by two corrections officers: "I love you."
