A recent child porn investigation led police to a Weber County Boy Scout leader who was arrested Thursday.
Court documents state the investigation began when Idaho authorities discovered someone was uploading child pornography to a Microsoft Skydrive account. When investigators traced the digital trail of the uploads, it led them to an ISP address identified as the "Trapper Trails Council," a division of the Boy Scouts of America that covers parts of Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.
Investigators eventually linked the Skydrive account to a 49-year-old man living in Layton. Police searched the man’s home Thursday and found images believed to depict child pornography. The man said he got the porn from Flickr, an image-sharing website, according to court documents.
The Layton officer involved in the case could not immediately be reached. Officials with the Trapper Trails Council also could not be reached Friday night. However, Fox 13 reports that the council permanently revoked the man’s registration with the Boy Scouts as soon as charges were filed Thursday.
The man is facing two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, both second-degree felonies.
