Fairbanks, Alaska • An Idaho man has died in a crash of a pickup truck driven by a Utah man near Fairbanks, Alaska.

Alaska State Troopers say 39-year-old Lacey A. Buttram died Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash near Mile 17 Steese Highway. His hometown was not immediately available.

Troopers took a call on the crash at 7:30 a.m.

Buttram was a passenger in a pickup driven by 29-year-old Jason Johnson of Utah.

The truck was northbound and lost traction on ice on a slight curve at the bottom of a hill.

Troopers say the truck left the road and rolled down a 30-foot embankment.

Johnson and a second passenger, 26-year-old Michael Hiatt, suffered what troopers describe as non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

Their hometowns in Utah were not immediately available.
