BOISE, Idaho • An Idaho inmate accused in the 1983 rape and murder of an Ogden girl has been cleared for extradition by a judge.
The Idaho Department of Correction will send a letter Wednesday letting Utah authorities know they can begin making plans to pick up 45-year-old Gregory Seamons.
Seamons has been charged in Utah with rape and first-degree murder in the slaying of 11-year-old Rebecca Lemberger.
Utah investigators say DNA evidence from the scene of the murder matched Seamons’ DNA from a national database.
In a 2012 letter to The Salt Lake Tribune, Seamons acknowledged "fooling around" with the girl before her death, but he suspects his father, Larry Bingham Seamons, likely killed her. Larry Seamons died a decade ago.
The Idaho Statesman reports Seamons is expected to arrive in Utah in a month.
