South Ogden police have arrested a former school teacher and Boy Scout leader on suspicion of sexual exploitation of minors involving at least five underage males.
South Ogden Police Chief Darin Parke said his officers arrested 61-year-old Kenneth Prince of Uintah on Tuesday, after numerous images of explicit photographs of the "clearly juvenile" boys were found on his computers during a raid.
Parke said officers served a search warrant on Prince's home on Sept. 19, confiscating three computers in all. Digital images of the boys were found on the machines, the chief said.
Prince was booked into the Weber County Jail about 5 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of five second-degree felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. About an hour later he was released after posting $10,000 bail.
As of Wednesday, prosecutors had not formally filed charges against Prince in 2nd District Court.
Parke said their investigation of Prince began during the first week of this month, when a now-adult male told detectives Prince had sexually abused him while the alleged victim was a minor.
Parke declined to further discuss details of the allegations or evidence seized, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation — and the potential for further purported victims surfacing.
However, the chief did say the complainant told investigators that none of the alleged abuse had occurred on school grounds or during Boy Scout activities.
Prince was employed as teacher at South Ogden Junior High School from 1979 to 2008, when he left for reasons not immediately clear. Parke said the suspect also had been a Boy Scout leader for many years in the South Ogden area.
As of Wednesday, detectives were still trying to identify the boys in the seized images. None of the pictured youths were the complainant, and it was undetermined if any of the images were taken by Prince himself or if they had been downloaded from the Internet, Parke said.
