Heavy rain flooded several apartments Saturday in Herriman.

The flooding happened about 1:30 p.m. at the Farm Gate Apartments, located 5675 W. 11800 South, according to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. Public works employees were en route Saturday afternoon to assess the situation.

Herriman city manager Brett Wood confirmed the flooding, saying he heard it had affected about 6 apartments. Wood said the water was running downhill from Herriman High School and into the apartments. City crews have been mobilized to sandbag the area.

The flooding comes just hours after the National Weather Service issued an urban flood advisory for Salt Lake and Utah counties, as well as a flash flood watch for most of the state.

The Salt Lake Tribune will update this story as more information becomes available.
