A school bus carrying a cross country team from Hyrum's Mountain Crest High School crashed Friday afternoon on Interstate 15 in Box Elder County. Students on the bus suffered minor injuries.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the Cache County School District bus was headed south to a tournament in Salt Lake City when it struck the back of a semi tractor-trailer that had slowed down for traffic. The collision occurred at about 1 p.m. just north of the Perry Port of Entry.

UHP reported minor injuries with some students saying they had some neck or head pain. No passengers were taken to the hospital. The crash caused the closure of the far right lane for about an hour as troopers investigated the crash.
