Layton police Det. Scott Byington has been elected president of the Utah Chapter of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators.

NADDI is a non-profit organization that facilitates training between law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, state regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical manufacturers in preventing and investigating prescription drug crimes.

Byington is a 15-year veteran of the Layton Police Department, having been assigned to the Metro Narcotics Unit in 2010.

In December 2012, Byington received the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Drug Enforcement Officer of the Year award.
