A man who died in a head-on collision with a tow truck on Redwood Road has been identified as a 40-year-old Salt Lake City man.

Police confirmed Tuesday that Joseph Delmar Watt died about 6:40 p.m. Monday when his northbound SUV drifted across the center median and into the path of the southbound tow truck near 657 S. Redwood Road.

Watt suffered traumatic chest injuries and died at the scene.

Why Watt apparently lost control of his vehicle remained under investigation.

The driver and a passenger in the tow truck were uninjured.
