Lightning-caused outages that had left nearly 3,600 Rocky Mountain Power customers without power in southcentral and southeastern Utah, were largely restored by late Friday.

By 4:45 p.m., only 134 customers were without service in Helper, Price and Wellington areas.

The cause of the outages, reported just after noon, was lightning.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman David Eskelsen said there were lightning strikes on a 46,000-volt line that feeds substations in the affected areas.

The utility gave an estimated restoration time of 8 p.m. for the remainder of the customers.
