Police locate missing Alpine girl

A 16-year-old girl who had been missing from her Alpine home for a week was located in the Salt Lake Valley on Friday evening, according to police.

The Lone Peak Police Department announced that Indica Huddleston was found safe just before 6 p.m. No other details were provided.

Huddleston had run away from home on Aug. 16, and an extensive search for the teen, which included the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, was launched soon after her disappearance.

Meanwhile, her family launched its own social media campaign to find her. On Thursday, family and friends met near Thanksgiving Point's "park and ride" lot to launch an effort to distribute flyers bearing the photograph and information about Huddleston, who ran away after arguing about school matters with her parents.

The family set up the "FIND Indica Huddleston" Facebook page in hopes of generating tips as to the whereabouts of the girl, who left a note at home indicating her intentions.

After reviewing her recent online activity, family members indicate they became concerned the girl may be with an otherwise unidentified man she met earlier through Facebook.
