Man grabs girl, rushed by Liberty Park employees, arrested

Salt Lake City police arrested a man after he allegedly approached and grabbed a 9-year-old girl in Liberty Park.

Police said the incident occurred just after 2 p.m. Thursday inside the park grounds, near 600 East and 1300 South. The girl screamed and struggled free as park employees rushed the suspect and detained him until police arrived.

The 35-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of battery and disturbing the peace.

The investigation was ongoing Friday.
