Police have arrested a Millcreek spa owner and two employees for allegedly turning a touch-free massage into an opportunity for sexual favors.
Two undercover Unified police officers walked into Spheres Spa, near 2700 E. 3300 South, at different times Tuesday afternoon and asked for a Reiki massage — one based on energy, not rubbing. The female employees gave them a traditional massage instead, then offered to perform a sexual act at the end, said police spokesman Jared Richardson.
Police arrested the two women on suspicion of prostitution, as well as operating as a masseuse without a license — any kind of rubbing massage requires a license. Police also arrested the business owner on suspicion of exploiting prostitution and aiding prostitution, Richardson said.
The owner rented space in the back of the building to the two women to do the massages and would take about half their profits to pay for rent, Richardson said.
Richardson did not immediately know whether the business has any other employees.
