Benefit for winter sports, mental health is Saturday
A performance by the Flying Ace All-Stars and a silent auction will be featured Saturday at the second annual "Hurricane for Hope" fundraiser at Utah Olympic Park.
Held in honor of the late freestyle aerialist Jeret "Speedy" Peterson, the fundraiser is designed to increase youth involvement in winter sports and to promote mental-health awareness through youth sports programs and education as a means of preventing suicide.
Peterson, an Olympic silver medalist known for his signature jump, the Hurricane, killed himself in July 2011.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $50 to $150 for adults and $25 for children ages 4 through 12. Children 3 and under get in for free. More information is available at http://www.hurricaneforhope.com.
