A woman who was learning to drive in Salt Lake City accidentally plowed her car through the window of a Deseret Industries building.

Salt Lake City police Lt. Scott White said the 46-year-old woman was making a right turn onto 2100 South from 800 East Saturday at about noon, but she turned the wheel too sharply. As the car was headed toward the curb, the woman panicked and accidentally slammed her foot on the gas, mistaking it for the brake.

White said the car hopped the curb and went about halfway through the front of the building before coming to a stop. The collision shattered glass and caused about $10,000 in damage, White said.

Neither the woman nor her husband, who was in the passenger seat, were injured, but the woman was given a ticket, White said.
