Ogden fire officials are asking residents for help in finding whoever is responsible for setting 10 grass fires near the Ogden Parkway Trail system over the past week.
On Thursday evening alone, Ogden firefighters responded to six grass fires within a one-hour period, according to fire officials.
The first blaze occurred just before 10 p.m. at 679 Patterson St., which was quickly followed by a second grass fire at 10:13 p.m. at 3170 Kiesel Ave. A third grass fire was reported at 10:18 p.m. at 3100 Stephens Ave., followed by a fourth fire reported at 10:26 at 27th and Wall Avenue. By 10:47 p.m., a fifth grass fire was reported near 1945 Wall Ave., followed by the sixth and final fire of the day at 18th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue at 10:57 p.m.
Fire officials said the fires ranged in size from a quarter acre to a half acre, and appear to have been set intentionally.
No structures have been harmed by the small blazes, though fire officials said the fire on Patterson Avenue was of concern because the fire was set near residences.
