A 53-year-old man was in custody Wednesday morning, a day after he allegedly decided to vandalize some Salt Lake City police cars.

Police said officers were responding to an unrelated call at Pioneer Park when they noticed the man using a knife to slash the tires of their squad cars.

Police did not say how many vehicles were vandalized or why the man allegedly targeted them.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of vandalism, disorderly conduct, providing false information to a police officer and interference with arrest.
