Rocky Mountain Power crews had fully restored service by Friday morning to all but a relative handful of the 8,500 Salt Lake Valley customers left without electricity when a wind-blown storm wreaked havoc on transmission lines late Thursday.
Maria O'Mara, a spokeswoman for the utility, said that as of dawn Friday only 30 customers — scattered throughout Holladay, Salt Lake City, Cottonwood and Midvale — remained in the dark. Repairs and restoration were expected to be completed at those locations throughout the day.
Severe weather rolled through the valley Thursday afternoon, and with lightning-punctuated winds gusting over 50 mph in places, was at its worst between 3 and 4 p.m.
Crews worked through the night to restore service, O'Mara said.
The outages also affected some TRAX rail stations' emergency barrier lighting, but trains continued to run on schedule.
