The 23-year-old who died in a boating accident at Lake Powell has been identified as David Hinton, of Logan.
Hinton was riding on the boat about 8 p.m. Wednesday when the watercraft struck a submerged island or rock near Dangling Rope Marina. The collision ejected Hinton from the bow into the water and under the boat.
Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg said the accident investigation was ongoing.
"This is a terrible tragedy affecting family, friends and the entire boating community," he said. "But this is also a time to remind those enjoying Utah's many lakes and reservoirs that with low water conditions, extra caution should be exercised when operating boats on the water."
