Salt Lake City police arrested one man and briefly detained and questioned three other men and a woman in connection with Tuesday's robbery of a west side Zions Bank branch.
Salt Lake City police Detective Veronica Montoya said the holdup at the bank, located at 910 W. 2100 South, was reported at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses told police the male suspect approached a teller with a note demanding cash, received an unspecified amount of money and was then seen leaving the area in a taxi cab.
A witness followed the cab and saw the man get out and enter a home near 1500 South and 1300 West. Police converged on the area, set up a containment zone and ordered all occupants of residence to come out.
Four men and a woman surrendered, and after questioning, the 27-year-old suspect was identified and arrested. He remained in Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday, being held in lieu of $10,000 bail on suspicion of bank robbery.
Montoya said the other four residents of the house were released after investigators determined they were not involved with the holdup.
