State Road 111 remained closed Tuesday morning, following a high-wind event Monday afternoon that pushed over 37 power poles between 8400 South and 10200 South.

At 1:44 p.m. Monday, wind knocked down 37 power poles on SR 111 between 8400 South and 10200 South, said Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Jeff Hymas. Crews rerouted power and had electricity restored to nearby West Jordan customers in less than an hour.

Winds gusted as high as about 40 mph in the area, according to the National Weather Service.

SR 111 remained closed in both directions from New Bingham Highway to 8200 South, and New Bingham Highway was closed from SR 111 to Old Bingham Highway. Motorists can use Mountain View corridor as an alternate route, the Utah Department of Transportation advised.
